There's a running joke that studying in KMS is the cheapo's version of studying in Egypt - it's practically a desert here. And having to trek across campus in a baju kurung the whole day doesn't really do much to alleviate the the problem (on another note, I've since lost 5 kilograms! They should really list weight-loss as one of the perks of being in matriculation).
Ironically, I'm in the Physical Science stream. No biology, just physics/chemistry/mathematics. Digging out my Form 5 Physics reference books remind me of how I motivated myself to get through tedious calculations regarding forces and tension and masses and gravitational pull and lenses and electricity by telling myself: "After SPM I never have to study Physics again!"
Hardeeharhar.
Slowly getting used to the food here, and prices are reasonable (a.k.a. cheap enough for kedekut people like me). Except for the cafe between the boys' dorms, that charged me RM 3.50 for a tiny, meatless, tasteless piece of chicken and two quarters of a sausage. Huh. However, I'm getting pretty sick of sirap ais.
Lectures are interesting, if only for the fact that the halls are air-conditioned and that there are constant sounds of crashes thanks to the annoyingly loose swing-up-tables-attached to the chairs (I'm sure there's a proper name for those things).
The cold showers took some getting used to, and just as I got accustomed to icy showers in the a.m., I got a nice surprise today when there was a sudden blackout while I was still in the shower.
...
Anyway. Being away from home wasn't as frightening as I thought it would be - could be due to the awesome roommates that put up with my scaredy-catness :P Insect-hunting at night is really a lot of fun... though I still don't understand why those darn creatures insist on invading a room full of humans 500 times their size instead of enjoying the outdoors with natural air-conditioning.
I should stop crapping.
Only 10 months to go!
